I said "Bow Wow Wow"!

As many of you know, one of Maggie's early words is "bow wow wow." She loves dogs, and sees them all over the neighborhood. Well, she doesn't limit her "bow wow wows" to dogs. Her stuffed monkey is a bow wow wow, a baby with lots of hair is a bow wow wow (sorry, Louise!), and it seems that maybe kittens are too.

Last night, I was reading "Goodnight Moon" to Maggie before bed, as we do almost every night. We got to the page that read "Goodnight kittens," and she said, "Bow wow wow." I said, "No, Maggie, kittens say 'Meow'." She turned to me and said, a little louder, "Bow wow wow." Trying to hold in my laughter, I repeated that kittens say "meow." She then yelled "Bow wow wow." I could hear Bill laughing in the kitchen at Maggie's first real disagreement with me. It was fantastic. I did my best to read the rest of the book without laughing, as she continued to repeat, "Bow wow wow" until the book was over, to prove her point, it seems. I guess she won, and currently, kittens in our house say "bow wow wow."

Walking!

It started with a stray step, and then a tentative two -- and now Maggie is walking!

Playgrounds

This weekend Maggie toured a number of Boston-area playgrounds and enjoyed some beautiful early Fall weather. There photos are from Saturday, when Maggie took the water shuttle to the Charlestown Navy Yard to sample its playground. She is becoming quite a connoisseur.

11 Months!

It's hard to believe, but Maggie is already 11 months old. She says a few words now - Mama, Dada, and Bow Wow Wow (the most common). We think she tries to say car and truck, but it's hard to tell. She's also on the edge of walking - my guess is that she'll be off and running before her first birthday!

New Foods

Maggie is constantly trying new food these days, and tends to like almost everything (except, of course, formula, with which she wants nothing to do). This weekend she tried and liked falafel, papaya, pommes frites, carrot muffin, blueberry bread, and an avacado banana milkshake. She also dressed up like a bag of potato chips, although it will be a while before she can indulge in this treat.

End of Summer

As you can see, summer turns quickly into fall in Massachusetts. These are pictures from Saturday and Sunday of Labor Day weekend - what a change! Maggie has so much fun at the pool and playground now - walking in the pool, climbing stairs at the playground, going down the slide and on the swings, and attempting (not so successfully) to ride a tricycle!

Standing Up

Maggie is now standing up on her own! She is loving it, and frequently laughs in amusement over her new skill. Earlier today she even took a tentative first step!
