Maggie's Halloween Birthday Party

Maggie's friends joined her last weekend for a Halloween birthday party at the playground.  Everyone seemed to have a great time, and we loved seeing all of her friends in costume.  We had three ladybugs, a zebra, Nemo the fish, a vampire, a monkey, and a few others.  And of course, Maggie was dressed as her favorite baseball player - David Ortiz!

Trying to blow out her candles....

However, she needed a better angle, so she leaned over the cake and ... spit on the candles!  We all laughed and then did NOT serve that portion of the cake!

She loves cake!

Louise enjoyed the cake so much that she moved on to Maggie's piece when she finished hers!

Enjoying a snack with Kate

And finally, one of Molly.  She was at the party as a pumpkin, but she spent the whole thing asleep in the stroller, so here she is at home!

Recent Happenings...

Maggie got a big bed on Thursday and seems to love it! We thought we'd slowly transition into the bed, but she demanded both naptime and bedtime yesterday be in the big bed. She did great, didn't get out of bed, and called for me when she woke up (instead of just wandering out). We are so proud of her!

Maggie has also been using her birthday present from Grammy and Granddad. Thank goodness for art supplies on rainy days!

And finally, a new shot of the sisters. They're sweeter every day!

Two Years!

Maggie celebrated her second birthday last Friday, and had her family party on Saturday.  She LOVED having everyone sing "Happy Birthday" to her, and she still wakes up each morning and announces that it is her birthday.  Lucky for her, she has a birthday party with her friends this weekend.

Maggie is a terrific two year old.  She speaks in full sentences now (although many of those sentences are better classified as "demands").  She's a city girl at heart, pointing out available parking spots when we are out walking and letting us know when the light changes and we can cross the street ("When the light turns red, the cars stop.  When the light turns green, the cars go.").  Maggie loves her baby sister, kissing her constantly and getting very excited when Molly looks at her or smiles (or sneezes or spits up).  Her favorite activities include reading books, taking walks around the neighborhood, playing with her pretend kitchen, picking out her cup before meals, bathing, helping her Dad make coffee, and and playing at the park.  She talks a lot about her grandparents, and is also known to converse frequently on topics such as the beach, the moon, and baseball.  Every night when going to bed, she announces her intention to wake up and "play and play" in the morning.  She just started a new school, and upon being picked up in the afternoon she announces "I had fun!"

We decided to take a picture of Maggie in the same chair as her monthly pictures from her first year.  Here's the picture from her 1st Birthday, and below is the picture from last week.  What a big change!

Molly's Baptism

Molly was baptized last Sunday at St. Leonard's Church in the North End. It was a gorgeous day and a lovely event.   We were honored that Molly's godparents - Uncle John and Claire's cousin Ashley - could come for the big event. Molly is a lucky girl!

Molly wore her mom's baptismal shoes - so sweet!

And saving the best for last, a post-baptism smile - we finally captured one on camera!

Lookout Farm

We had a wonderful trip to Lookout Farm on Sunday with a gaggle of UVA Law offspring -- Maggie, Molly, Brendan, and Zach.  It is hard to say what Maggie enjoyed the most -- the apple picking, the pony rides, the petting zoo, or the haystack climbing.   Regardless, it was a fantastic autumn outing.
