Our last day in Italy. Maggie and Bill started the day with a capuccino in Piazza Navona, and then we all went to the market in Campo de Fiore and picked up some snacks for the plane tomorrow, as well as some fragolina (tiny strawberries), which were devoured immediately. Then it was off to the Pantheon -- Maggie napped while Claire and Bill took in this stunning architectural marvel. Next was Giolitti, a legendary gelotto spot that did not disappoint. Maggie awoke just in time to partake.
We returned to the Trevi Fountain for a brief spell, grabbed pizza at Forno in Campo de Fiore, and then walked across the Tiber to the Vatican. By now the day had become quite warm, and we were stuck in the sun for quite some time while making our way to the entrance for the Vatican Museum. Maggie napped again, worrying us that she would sleep through both the Pantheon and the Sistene Chapel in the same day. We needn't have worried, because she awoke while we were in the Vatican and promptly vomited everywhere. It must have been the heat. Thankfully, we managed to change her clothes and clean up her mess without being excommunicated. Maggie seemed happy and energetic, so we continued on to the Sistine Chapel and St. Peters. Both are incredible, although Maggie was disappointed that St. Peter's featured no "a Mama a Baby" statues.
We went home for another nap and then ventured back across the Tiber to Trastavere, a charming neighborhood. We enjoyed a farewell dinner at Antico Pesa, which had been highly recommended by a friend. Then we met up with Jessica, who we'd bumped into on the Capri ferry last week, for some gelato and a stroll back across the river. Sweet Maggie had was in a great mood and was leaning forward in the backpack to give her Dad kisses. We made our way through Piazza Navona one last time and Maggie bid "ciao" to the Bernini fountains.

Thanks for sharing your trip with us! It looks amazing- we want to go to Italy eventually, too. This summer we're heading to London, Ireland, Paris and Switzerland!
